Kindness

Kindness goes further than you think. You will never know what a simple smile could do for a stranger you pass by in the store. Or paying for the person behind you in a drive through. Lending a jacket or a pen to a classmate. Giving someone something that belongs to you that not only made you happy but them as well. There is an infinite amount of things we can do or say to make someone happy, to give someone hope. To let someone know they are not alone, that there is a bright side, that happiness is possible. You can do great things. You can change the world with the most simple task. People see you, you're not invisible. People of all ages watch you, your reactions, your mood, all sorts of things. How you react to situations especially when they involve others is very important. It reflects your character, your heart, and shows how you treat others. Yes, it's okay to have a bad day but just because things aren't going as planned doesn't mean there's not a bright side. It doesn't mean you can't end the day on a good note and find so many things to be grateful for in the midst of a storm. If someone chooses to be hateful to you just let it go, I know it may seem next to impossible but it is very possible. Be the bigger person, even if someone is mad at you or lies to you or blames you, or any number of things. Choose to be kind, walk away if you know you'll be just as hateful back. You will affect that person way more by being kind than you will if you stoop to their level and give them negative attention. They are expecting a mean reaction back, but you can shock them by being kind and even praying for them if you believe in God. The whole point of this message is to show you that no matter the situation or circumstance. Whether it be a hateful comment, a rainy beach day, a mean customer at your job, a teacher being unfair, a sibling or family member arguing, and the list continues you can ALWAYS choose kindness. Choose the best way out. You can change the whole situation around with how you respond or react. If you spill your coffee on your favorite shirt instead of getting angry find the positive side. Spray it with a cleaner and wash it right away. Or find it online and replace it. Remember that you are lucky to have enough shirts to have a favorite. If someone pushes you in line to a ride because they are impatient, step out of the way and kindly let them pass. Don't make a comment just let it go. They will notice that. They may feel bad or be shocked, they may even try to fix it. Or fix how they treat people. There is an endless amount of situations that could be changed so easily by responding kindly. It's not just for them but also for you, you'll be more at peace. You won't have any consequences because you didn't do anything wrong or bad. I hope this message helps people realize that this world doesn't have to be as mean as it is.

So, I have been writing since I was in middle school. Recently, writing has changed for me. My aunt just passed and she has inspired me so much more to continue writing and maybe even publish a book one day. She wrote and published a bookful of poems to the love of her life and I would like to publish a book of children's stories dedicated to her memory. Writing is now that much more important for me, as it is my way of keeping her memory alive and making her proud.
